Catalia "Cat" Fisa is a powerful clairvoyant known as the Kingmaker. This smart-mouthed soothsayer has no interest in her powers and would much rather fly under the radar, far from the clutches of her homicidal mother. But when an ambitious warlord captures her, she may not have a choice…
Griffin is intent on bringing peace to his newly conquered realm in the magic-deprived south. When he discovers Cat is the Kingmaker, he abducts her. But Cat will do everything in her power to avoid her dangerous destiny and battle her captor at every turn. Although up for the battle, Griffin would prefer for Cat to help his people willingly, and he's ready to do whatever it takes to coax her…even if that means falling in love with her.
There is so much to love about this book. It was everything I could have hoped for and so much more.
I loved Cat. She’s feisty, determined, and refuses to let her guard down. Not that I blame her. She had a pretty crappy childhood. She has insecurities and things she is scared of, and I think that made her more relatable. But I still love the fact that she can completely kick ass.
Griffin is an absolute Alpha male. He’s used to taking what he wants, and not having to explain himself. He has a kind heart, but is very persistent when it comes to Cat. I do appreciate that he doesn’t push to hard when she lets her wishes be known. He respects her, and that is a great thing!
The secondary characters were pretty fantastic, too. You could tell their friendship was strong and I hope we get to see more of them in the next book.
This book takes place in a Grecian world. I loved seeing the reference to the Greek gods, and seeing who their champions are. There are also people who have magic, and those that don’t. There’s a definite division between the two that I hope comes together throughout the series. I felt like I was in traveling with the characters throughout the land. And there may be DRAGONS!!!!! Okay, so there are. And I want one!
I would tell you… But I’m going to wait until you read it to say anything. I loved it, and the whole insane world. I can’t imagine going through everything these characters go through, especially Cat. And it was interesting figuring out everything that is going on.
Overall, this a book you should add to your TBR. It’s got action, magic, DRAGONS, Greek Mythology, sexy times, and a myriad of fantastic relationships. I’m going to need to sequel ASAP.
