My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me–my freshman year of college. I’d been hoping that once I’d arrived on Crestwood’s campus, the nightmare that I’ve been having would go away. It hasn’t.I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I’m grounded…sane. I look for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he’s near, I feel an attraction to him–a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you’re thinking…that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would be…if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I’m the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood…or him. But get this, for some reason every time I turn around he’s there, barging into my life. What is the secret that he’s keeping from me? I’m hoping that it’s anything but what I suspect: that he’s not exactly normal…and neither am I. So, maybe Crestwood won’t be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I’ve been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is…inescapable.
Have you ever read a book and thought “Damn this song would go so great with this story?” Well, we are going to do that for you. When we find a book that completely grips our musical tastes we are going to share those songs with you. Hope you enjoy, and find some great songs to add to your playlist.
I really, really enjoyed this book. It was actually my calm-down book after reading The 5th Wave (which is freaking insane, btw). Okay, so, we’ve got another fallen angel book here, and I’m beginning to think these are taking over in place of the vampire craze a few years ago, and honestly I’m embracing it, as you can tell. I’m only 20 and I’m in college so I can just relate to most of these teen fallen angel books; please don’t judge. (I’ll switch it up soon, I promise.) This book has several scary, creepy moments during Evie’s premonitions and at the beginning of the book the reader doesn’t even know there’s anything paranormal about her. Honestly, when I decided to buy this book, I bought it because I thought the cover was pretty. I didn’t even read the synopsis. Horrible, I know, but it turned out to be a spectacular purchase.
The love triangle in this book is rather strange. However, I like that Evie actually makes a choice between the two in the first book; that’s promising in my eyes. This book is literally full of plot twists involving the main characters. Nobody is what you think they are, and I loved that. This book was really magnificent and well-developed. The only thing keeping it from getting a full 5 stars is the fact that I simply wasn’t truly blown away, though I was very intrigued by it. I would read it again, if that tells you anything, so I definitely recommend it. Happy reading and check out the playlist below and let us know what you think!
