XOXperts SL

I absolutely adore my fellow XOXperts, and want to spotlight them so you can see how amazing they are as well.  So without further ado….

We have Victoria from Art, Books, & Coffee!

1. Tell us a little bit about your blog.

Art, Books, & Coffee was created as a place to talk about books, art, and the need for over caffeination. It is a blog as well as a platform to share information about authors and artists a like.

Art and books have always been a part of my life. There has never been a day that I can’t remember having one or the other. When I close my eyes, I can still hear my father reading to me as a child. He would pick out Green Eggs and Ham, stories from my Uncle Wiggily Story Book, or any of the other tales that were on my shelf and start reading. It is because of this time spent each night with him, that I started to fall in love with books. My love of art, however, developed over many years. Don’t get me wrong, I was always drawing something when I was little. There was always a pack of Crayola Crayons somewhere near by (my Mom made sure of that). However, it was not until High School that I caught the “art bug”. Then, I went to School of Visual Arts in NYC and I was hooked. Looking back at my path over the years, it almost seems natural that I would become a graphic designer/artist in the publishing industry.

In recent years, I have been able to work with a great group of authors, consultants, and small publishers through my company VMC Art & Design (http://www.vmc-artdesign.com/). It is because of this that I have started this blog. I wanted to be able to share books, art finds, great quotes and anything that has to do with the three things in my life that I could not live without…art, books, and coffee. It is my hope that this site will become a place where everyone can come and talk about literature and art. And if we are all highly caffeinated while doing it…then so be it!

Here is to many more years of great books, great art, and countless cups of coffee!

2. How long have you been blogging?

Though I started to dabble a little reviews and sharing books with a blog on my company’s website in October 2013, I jumped into the crazy world of book blogging with Art, Books, & Coffee in April 2014.

3.  Your favorite part of being an XOXpert?

I think that the best part, other than the book delivery once a month, is being able to share my obsession for books with all the other XOxperts. We all get to come together and talk about the books we are reading and when the next delivery is due to arrive (and how to properly stalk your UPS carrier). Most of all, we have a lot of fun. We even support each other. It is this camaraderie that we have that I never expected, but it is great to know that there are other crazy book loving people out there. And what a group we are!

4.  Your favorite XOXpert book you’ve read this year?

Seriously…I have to pick one? Well, I can’t do it. You can’t make me! [insert crazy book lover’s tantrum here]
If I must, I will have to say that there are two books that stood out to me this year. The first is The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy E. Reichert. The humor, the heart, and of course the food made me love this book. It is quite the debut novel from the author and I believe a number of us really enjoyed the book. The second would have to be The Canterbury Sisters by Kim Wright. From the moment I heard about this book, I knew that I wanted to read it. There was something about a group of unlikely companions put together and asked to tell stories that hit me as fascinating. Both The Coincidence of Coconut Cake and The Canterbury Sisters are relatable stories that reside comfortably on my book shelf just waiting to be re-read.
With official my choices being made, I will say that Shadow Fall by Laura Griffin, Sustained by Emma Chase, Playing with Fire by Kate Meader and Katy Evans’ Manwhore series were all close runners-up.
