Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

If you would have told me that I’d find an alien being completely hawt and yummy, I would have said you’re crazy.  But let me tell you, Daemon is a definite hottie!

I love that Kat is a book nerd.  That made me able to connect with her instantly.  She’s sarcastic, witty, and hot tempered.  She tries not to let Daemon get the best of her, but it’s so hard sometimes.  And Daemon is one of those sexy guys that’s completely annoying at times, but you can’t help but want him. Seriously, he can call me Kitten any time he wants. I also LOVE Dee.  She’s an awesome character.  She just wants to have one real friend, and hopes to find that in Kat.

There’s a lot of relationship building in this book.  Kat is trying to figure out what exactly is “off” about Daemon, and why people are being attacked.  I also like that Kat kind of freaks out about Daemon.  It’s a completely real response.  The tension between the two during the entire book is awesome.  At times you want to yell, “Just kiss each other already!”  Even though the relationship & friendship building is a big focus, the book is fast paced.  Kat always seems to get herself into trouble.  She realizes though, that she’s stronger than she, or anyone else, believed.

Obsidian has many sexy scenes, and they just make me want Daemon more. If you’re looking for fun, witty banter between characters, this is definitely the book to pick up.  I am ready to read the next book.  Probably soon!
