Marissa Meyer did it again. Scarlet is absolutely amazing! I was able to meet Marissa last year at the Austin Teen Book Festival before I read Cinder, and I was pretty skeptical about reading Cinder to begin with. After Katrina and I interviewed Marissa and chatted about her thought processes, her enthusiasm about the book pulled me in. I bought Cinder that day and kicked myself for not reading it sooner. I will be the first to tell you I am not a Sci-Fi girl. I was never a Trekkie or a huge fan of Star Wars. With all of that being said once I finished Cinder I couldn’t wait for the rest of the Lunar Chronicles to be published. Once I got my hands on Scarlet I was not able to put it down. The way Marissa merged both Scarlet’s story and Cinder’s was just flawless. Scarlet is such a strong character. We follow her on her journey to find her missing grandmother in the futuristic world of hovers and androids. I can relate to her head strong stubborn personality as I am pretty stubborn myself. I absolutely fell in love with her and cheered her on throughout her journey. While she is plotting her moves to find her grandmother a stranger enters her little town who has agreed to help Scarlet find her grandmother. What is a fairytale without the handsome and strong love interest? Well Marissa sure did deliver as Wolf is all of the above. We don’t know if we should punch him or hug him. With secrets of his own they set out on the adventure of finding grandma, and of course finding out more about Cinder’s past along the way. This book is irresistible and I must say I cannot wait for the next two books. I give this book 5 out of 5. Happy reading my bookish babes!
