Musings: Perception

Saturday evening the honey and I were watching Red Riding Hood.  He kept asking me why the werewolves in this movie and The Twilight Saga are just big dogs.  He also asked why these types of werewolves seemed to have the capability to keep their human understandings while in wolf form.  Apparently I know all these answers….   He prefers the wolves from Underworld or Silver Bullet.  He says they are supposed to be ugly, unthinking beasts.

I tried to explain to him that everyone has their own perceptions of these mythical creatures.  That’s why we have vampires that are beautiful and never age (True Blood); vampires that are gruesome and ugly (30 Days of Night); and vampires that sparkle.  If I have to explain the reference to that one, you’ve obviously been under a rock for the past 4 years.

The honey likes all his creatures mean. I however think the werewolves in Red Riding Hood and Twilight are less intimidating, or maybe just more believable.  As for vampires….. Give me Eric Northman any day.

So, do you prefer your creatures gnarly or gorgeous???  Feel free to comment. 😀

On another note…

We put new flooring in our living room and were able to make me a reading/crafting nook.  I love it!
